During her studies Niamh has had the privilege of participating in masterclasses with artists including Dennis O’Neill ( as a member of Wexford Festival Opera’s Young Artist Programme), Susan Bullock, Rosalind Plowright and Jean Rigby.
The first recipient of English Touring Opera’s Chris Ball Artist Bursary Niamh’s operatic performances include Cherubino in ‘The Marriage of Figaro’, Hermia in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, 3rd lady ‘The Magic Flute’, Smeton ‘Anna Bolena’, Mrs Ott ‘Susannah’ and Olga ‘Eugene Onegin’ (all with English Touring Opera), Maurya ‘Riders to the Sea’ (Opera Fringe Northern Ireland); Cherubino ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ and Mercedes ‘Carmen’ (Opera Brava) ; Eurynome, ‘Penelope’ (Wexford Festival Opera), La Maestra della Novizie, ‘Suor Angelica’ (RNCM).
Niamh has performed regularly on the concert platform in venues such as the National Concert Hall, Dublin, the Sage Gateshead and the Wigmore Hall. She sang 2nd Mezzo in Stephen McNeff’s Names of the Dead in association with Opera North and played the role of Nurse in Laurence Roman’s concert performance of ‘Isabella and the Pot of Basil’ at the Hungarian Institute, Covent Garden. Niamh’s broadcasts include programmes for RTE television and radio and NBC New York.
An accomplished oratorio soloist Niamh has performed works such as Beethoven’s Symphony No 9, Handel’s Dixit Dominus, Messiah, Alexander’s Feast, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Haydn’s Nelson Mass and Mozart Requiem, with choral societies throughout Ireland and England.
Recent performances include Dorabella for Mananan International Opera Festival, Anitra in Grieg’s Peer Gynt with Sam West and the New London Sinfonia, Petite Messe Solennelle with Daventry Choral Society and Verdi Requiem with Armonico Consort and Sir Willard White.
Recent performances include Hansel in Northern Ireland Opera’s production of ‘Hansel and Gretel’, Rosina with Opera Brava, Durufle Requiem and Haydn Nelson Mass at Bath Abbey and Messiah at the Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham.
In 2014 Niamh returned to ETO with the demanding role of Helen in Tippett’s ‘King Priam’ and in 2015 made her ENO debut in the world premiere of Tansy Davies’s ‘Between Worlds’. She returns to ETO this autumn.
